I think MSP is a great place to move if you are single and ready to mingle. A few of my friends met their sig. They are both now happily married. One to a nurse and one to a phd. I think you just have to get out there no matter where you live. The perception is there for a reason. That said - as a transplant you will most likely find other transplants to be the most welcoming I'm speaking from experience.

Overall - there tend to be different circles of people - those that are from here and married someone from here might tend to be friends with their college buddies as their main group. I know plenty of people single and in the dating scene in your age range. Yes, some are from here, but a majority are not.
