I actually did meet a few guys that turned into long term relationships from POF. But I had to sift through so many players first, rapists and serial killers I'm sure. I tried OKCupid a few years back. And again just recently. A male friend of mine was meeting women on okcupid and I joined as a joke to keep him company.
It was borderline sexual harassment. I got tired of it pretty quick.

My best dates never came from the internet but I did meet a girlfriend on okcupid years ago when it wasn't owned by one of those dating conglomerates. OKC also seems to be where women get scared off the quickest.

Tried online dating for a bit a month or two but in the end I found it just to be a massive waste of time and was taking away time from things I rather be doing instead. I'm a 36 year old male and it's tough with online dating. OKC and Tinder are really just fun apps to talk to people.
I think the average is like guys to 1 women in this city lol. As a female, all my male friends tell me the same however I find it incredibly hard to meet people. Yeah honestly unless you have a huge social circle it's hard in this city especially if you want something genuine. Tired of the whole bar scene.
